The Public Works Department manages the Streets and Utilities, Engineering, Transit , and Water and Wastewater Divisions.
The Streets and Utilities Division maintain all Town streets, maintain water and sewer systems, assist in keeping the Freebox clean and help manage Spring Clean-up. Street maintenance includes street sweeping, drainage maintenance, chip sealing, asphalt patching and overlays, dust control, snow removal and sanding, and public trash removal.
The Water Division operates two water treatment facilities, Mill Creek and Stillwell Tunnel, in compliance with State water quality standards. Water rights in Bridal Veil Basin are being developed to provide additional needed water resources. The water delivery system provides service in Town and to neighboring developments. Residential rates have recently been restructured from a flat fee to a consumption-based fee system to encourage conservation.
The Wastewater Division operates the Regional Wastewater Treatment Plant at Society Turn, collecting and treating wastewater from the Town and from nearby communities, including Mountain Village.
