Historical Photo
This view of Main Street, ca. 1900, shows historic Telluride in its heyday. Two boys were playing in front of the San Miguel County Courthouse, at the far left. The two-story Sheridan Hotel was still standing, and the three-story New Sheridan had been completed. L.L. Nunn's First National Bank with its tower occupied a prominent spot on the street. Further on, one can see the Telluride Mercantile Company and the Mahr Building. Charles Painter's office and the Pekkarine Building are visible on the right. Note the streetlights hanging over the center of the street. Photograph courtesy of the Telluride Historical Museum. Photographed by Joseph E. Byers.
