L. C. McClure photographed Telluride around 1910. The Telluride High School, now the Elementary School, sits prominently in the foreground at the intersection of Galena Avenue and Townsend Street. The towers of the San Miguel County Courthouse and the First National Bank are at the center of the picture, on either side of the three-story New Sheridan Hotel . The original two-story Sheridan Hotel had already burned (1906), but the Sheridan Opera House had not been built (1913). The cluster of houses in the background are located on the site of what is now Town Park. Photograph courtesy of the Denver Public Library Western History Collection.
