The Town of Telluride is located in the southwest corner of Colorado in the spectacular San Juan Range of the Rocky Mountains. Telluride lies approximately 100 highway miles northeast from the Four Corners, which is the intersection of Colorado, New Mexico, Arizona and Utah. The Town is situated at the end of a three-mile spur off State Highway 145 in a dramatic box canyon. Historic Telluride adjoins the Telluride ski area on its southern border and is surrounded by the twelve and thirteen thousand foot peaks of the Uncompahgre National Forest.
Telluride is the county seat for San Miguel County. It maintains strong economic and social ties to neighboring towns and cities including Mountain Village, Norwood, Ridgway, Montrose, Ouray, Rico, Cortez and Durango.
The Town is comprised of roughly fifty square blocks. The three-mile entrance spur of Highway 145 becomes Colorado Avenue, the main street of the commercial core.
