MUNICIPAL COURT DEPARTMENT

 

Program Description

 

It is the mission of the Municipal Court to provide for the just determination of all proceedings within the Court’s jurisdiction and to promote public confidence in the integrity, fairness, and impartiality of the judiciary.

Program Description: The Telluride Municipal Court adjudicates alleged violations of the Telluride Municipal Code involving parking and traffic regulations, animal control ordinances and miscellaneous code provisions.

The Municipal Judge conducts research, hearings, arraignments, trials and sentencing and prepares court documents and correspondence. A Deputy Judge performs duties in instances where the Municipal Judge is unavailable and also serves as the Liquor License Hearing Officer.

The Municipal Court Clerk provides support to the Court, processes citations, prepares and maintains department records including statistics and provides information to defendants, attorneys and the general public.

Performance Expectations for 2009

  • Review and update current programs and systems, as necessary.
  • Attend Municipal Court Clerk class and update systems, as necessary/desirable.
  • Attend Municipal Judge Annual Meeting (Municipal Judge).
  • Attend Advanced Word and Excel class and incorporate information into systems (Court Clerk).
  • Systemize Tracking of Municipal Court Statistics (Court Clerk).
  • Review and update web site and other Court collateral information, as appropriate.
  • Cross Train all Municipal Court systems to Clerk’s Department staff.
