(June 16, 2023) – Telluride, CO --- Applications are open for the Town of Telluride and the Historic & Architectural Review Commission’s (HARC) 2023 Preservation Awards. Established in 2008, the Telluride Preservation Awards are presented periodically by the Town of Telluride and the Historic and Architectural Review Commission (HARC) to recognize those who have contributed to the preservation of Telluride’s National Historic Landmark District. Nominees are judged on their project’s enhancement of the overall design of the community and protection of the traditional character of the town.
Awards are presented to residential, commercial, or mixed-use projects in several categories including Rehabilitation & Restoration, Most Compatible Addition, Most Compatible Infill, and Continuing Preservation. Eligible projects must have commenced after January 1, 2019 and completed with a Certificate of Occupancy in advance of May 28, 2023. Nominations are evaluated by an Evaluation Committee composed of HARC members who have no role or interest in the nominated projects.
“The Historic Preservation Awards give many impactful projects throughout Town an opportunity to be recognized for the incredible effort made to maintain the unique and historic nature of the Town of Telluride and its buildings,” said Historic Preservation Director Jonna Wensel. “Our historic buildings and sites uphold a physical connection to our past, allowing our history to live on for years to come.”
Complete applications for nomination must be received no later than 4 pm MST on Friday, June 23, 2023. For more information regarding the 2023 Preservation Awards, please visit bit.ly/totpreservationawards or email info@telluride-co.gov.

ABOUT TELLURIDE
A former Victorian mining town in southwest Colorado’s San Juan Mountains, Telluride was incorporated in 1977 as a home-rule municipality. Set in a box canyon amid forested peaks at the base of the popular Telluride ski-and-golf resort, the town’s historic district houses landmarks like the Sheridan Opera House, a performing-arts venue originally built in 1913, and the Telluride Historical Museum, which showcases local history in a converted hospital built in 1896.
