Town of Telluride Opens Green Grant Pre-Applications
Grant program supports local businesses and residents in reducing carbon footprint
(June 30, 2023) – Telluride, CO --- The Town of Telluride, in partnership with EcoAction Partners, is now accepting pre-applications for Telluride Green Grants, a grant program that supports businesses and residents reduce their carbon footprint to help meet the goals of the Town of Telluride's Climate Action Plan. The Town is actively working to reduce greenhouse gas emissions by 70% by 2030 and 95% by 2040, using 2010 as a baseline, through energy efficiency, renewable energy, water use efficiency, and other innovative means.
Funded by the Town of Telluride and administered by EcoAction Partners, Telluride Green Grants are available to discrete non-profit, commercial, and residential projects that deliver measurable greenhouse gas (GHG) reductions for the Town of Telluride community.
Telluride Green Grants support projects that meet the following objectives for the Town of Telluride:
- Measurably reduce greenhouse gas emissions associated with the Town of Telluride community.
- Decrease energy and/or water consumption within or associated with the Town of Telluride.
- Promote waste reduction, energy efficiency, water efficiency, and renewable energy systems.
- Leverage rebates and other funding sources.
- Promote environmental and economic sustainability.
- Increase public awareness on the benefits of energy efficiency, water use efficiency, renewable energy, and GHG reduction.
Previously awarded projects included net-zero building construction, insulation & weatherization of existing buildings, replacement of old boilers and furnaces, renewable energy installations, waste reduction projects, water efficiency or conservation projects, composting, transportation-related fuel reduction efforts, and more.
“Through Green Grants, we hope to empower local businesses and individuals to bring innovative and impactful projects that will not only mitigate environmental challenges but also foster a greener, cleaner, and more resilient town,” said Deputy Town Manager Zoe Dohnal.
Grants awards from $500 to $40,000 are available to qualified applicants. Applicants must first submit an “Intent to Apply” by November 10, 2023. Once the “Intent to Apply” is submitted, applicants will be contacted by EcoAction Partners to discuss their proposal. If the proposal is approved, applicants will be invited to begin the official application process on September 13, 2023. Final applications are due to EcoAction Partners no later than November 17, 2023.
