FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE

Paving Operations to Commence on Colorado and Pacific Avenues

No parking zones, lane, and road closures to occur from May 8 through May 13

(May 5, 2023) – Telluride, CO --- The Town of Telluride will begin paving operations with Telluride Gravel on sections of Pacific and Colorado avenues on Monday, May 8. Pacific will be milled and paved from Townsend to Spruce while Colorado will be milled and paved from Townsend to Aspen. Intermittent lane and road closures will occur throughout the week to allow milling and paving without limiting public access to town. Detours will be set up around operations to account for road and lane closures.

The paving schedule is presently planned as follows:

  • Monday, May 8: Cones and notices of street closures to be placed, detail milling to begin
  • Tuesday, May 9: Partial road closures to begin on both Pacific and Colorado Avenues
  • Wednesday, May 10: No parking in paving zones on Pacific and Colorado through May 13, towing of remaining parked cars, milling to commence on Colorado and Pacific
  • Thursday, May 11: Milling to continue, paving to commence on Pacific
  • Friday, May 12: Paving to continue on Pacific
  • Saturday, May 13: Paving to commence on Colorado, project completion

While the Town encourages residents and visitors to walk when convenient, vehicular access will be mitigated to cross Pacific during operations for access to the Telluride Regional Medical Center, Gondola Plaza, and various residential areas. The Town advises residents to access the Post Office from Colorado Avenue via South Willow Street.

“During this week of paving operations, please pay extra attention to construction signs, moving equipment, and all the crews that are hard at work to improve our Town roads,” said Public Works Director Kyle Beck.

Operations will adhere to the Town of Telluride’s noise ordinance for loud and heavy machinery from 9 am MST to 6 pm MST Monday through Saturday. For the most up-to-date information, please follow the Town of Telluride on social media @townoftelluride. For any questions surrounding the project, please email Project Manager and Town of Telluride Streets Superintendent Rich Estes at restes@telluride-co.gov.
