Suspect in Road Rage Incident in Police Custody
Andrew Michael Kjelland voluntarily surrendered to the San Miguel Sheriff’s Office
(September 21, 2023) – Telluride, CO --- Local law enforcement has taken Andrew Michael Kjelland into custody after he voluntarily turned himself in to the San Miguel County Sheriff’s Office. Kjelland was the subject of an arrest warrant for menacing issued on Wednesday after his display of a firearm during a road rage incident on Tuesday evening.
At approximately 1:00 pm MST this afternoon, Kjelland voluntarily contacted the San Miguel County Sheriff’s Office and indicated his willingness to surrender. Law enforcement personnel was dispatched to the Kjelland’s location and took him into custody without incident. The Telluride Marshal’s Department continued to work closely with the San Miguel County Sheriff's Office, and the suspect is now confirmed to be in police custody.
“We are incredibly appreciative of the collaboration between our department, the Sheriff’s Office, and the Mountain Village Police Department,” said Chief Josh Comte. “This was a community-wide effort and we’re proud to work with these men and women in the interest of our residents and visitors alike.”
