Town of Telluride Opens Green Grant Pre-Applications

Grant program supports local businesses and residents in reducing carbon footprint

(July 19, 2024) – Telluride, CO --- The Town of Telluride, in partnership with EcoAction Partners, is now accepting pre-applications for Telluride Green Grants. This grant program supports businesses and residents in reducing their carbon footprints to help meet the goals of the Town of Telluride's Climate Action Plan. The Town is actively working to reduce greenhouse gas emissions by 70% by 2030 and 95% by 2040, using 2010 as a baseline, through energy efficiency, renewable energy, water use efficiency, and other innovative means.

Funded by the Town of Telluride and administered by EcoAction Partners, Telluride Green Grants are available to discrete non-profit, commercial, and residential projects that deliver measurable greenhouse gas (GHG) reductions for the Town's community. 

Telluride Green Grants support projects that meet the following objectives for the Town of Telluride: 

  • Measurably reduce greenhouse gas emissions associated with the Town of Telluride community. 
  • Decrease energy and/or water consumption within or associated with the Town of Telluride. 
  • Promote waste reduction, energy efficiency, water efficiency, and renewable energy systems. 
  • Leverage rebates and other funding sources. 
  • Promote environmental and economic sustainability. 
  • Increase public awareness of the benefits of energy efficiency, water use efficiency, renewable energy, and GHG reduction.

Previously awarded projects included net-zero building construction, insulation & weatherization of existing buildings, replacement of old boilers and furnaces, renewable energy installations, waste reduction projects, water efficiency or conservation projects, composting, transportation-related fuel reduction efforts, and more

“Through Green Grants, we hope to empower local businesses and individuals to bring innovative and impactful projects that will not only mitigate environmental challenges but also foster a greener, cleaner, and more resilient town,” said Sustainability and Grant Administrator Darin Graber.  

Grant awards from $500 to $40,000 are available to qualified applicants. Applicants must first submit an “Intent to Apply” by November 8, 2024. Once the “Intent to Apply” is submitted, applicants will be contacted by EcoAction Partners to discuss their proposal. If the proposal is approved, applicants will be invited to begin the official application process available beginning September 6, 2024. Final applications are due to EcoAction Partners no later than November 15, 2024.

El Ayuntamiento de Telluride abre el plazo de solicitud de subvenciones ecológicas

El programa de subvenciones ayuda a las empresas locales y a los residentes a reducir la huella de carbono

(19 de julio de 2024)- Telluride, CO --- El Ayuntamiento de Telluride, en colaboración con EcoActionPartners, está aceptando pre-solicitudes para las Subvenciones Verdes de Telluride. Este programa de subvenciones ayuda a las empresas y los residentes a reducir su huella de carbono para ayudar a cumplir los objetivos del Plan de Acción Climática de la Ciudad de Telluride. La ciudad está trabajando activamente para reducir las emisiones de gases de efecto invernadero en un 70% para 2030 y en un 95% para 2040, tomando 2010 como referencia, a través de la eficiencia energética, las energías renovables, la eficiencia en el uso del agua y otros medios innovadores.

Financiado por el Ayuntamiento de Telluride y administrado por EcoAction Partners, Telluride Green Grants está disponible para proyectos discretos sin ánimo de lucro, comerciales y residenciales que ofrezcan reducciones cuantificables de gases de efecto invernadero (GEI) para la comunidad del municipio. 

Telluride Green Grants apoya proyectos que cumplen los siguientes objetivos para la ciudad de Telluride: 

  • Reducir de forma mensurable las emisiones de gases de efecto invernadero asociadas a la comunidad de Telluride. 
  • Reducir el consumo de energía y/o agua en la ciudad de Telluride o en relación con ella. 
  • Promover la reducción de residuos, la eficiencia energética, la eficiencia hídrica y los sistemas de energías renovables. 
  • Aprovechar los descuentos y otras fuentes de financiación. 
  • Promover la sostenibilidad medioambiental y económica. 
  • Aumentar la concienciación pública sobre los beneficios de la eficiencia energética, la eficiencia en el uso del agua, las energías renovables y la reducción de GEI.

Los proyectos concedidos anteriormente incluían la construcción de edificios con un consumo neto nulo, el aislamiento y la climatización de edificios existentes, la sustitución de calderas y hornos antiguos, instalaciones de energías renovables, proyectos de reducción de residuos, proyectos de eficiencia o conservación del agua, compostaje, esfuerzos de reducción de combustible relacionados con el transporte y mucho más.

“A través de las Subvenciones Verdes, esperamos capacitar a las empresas locales y a los particulares para que lleven a cabo proyectos innovadores e impactantes que no sólo mitiguen los retos medioambientales, sino que también fomenten una ciudad más ecológica, limpia y resistente,” ha declarado Darin Graber, Administrador de Sostenibilidad y Subvenciones.

Se concederán subvenciones de 500 a 40.000 dólares a los solicitantes que cumplan los requisitos. Los solicitantes deben presentar primero una «Intención de solicitud» antes del 8 de noviembre de 2024. Una vez presentada la solicitud, EcoAction Partners se pondrá en contacto con los solicitantes para discutir su propuesta. Si la propuesta es aprobada, se invitará a los solicitantes a iniciar el proceso oficial de solicitud disponible a partir del 6 de septiembre de 2024. Las solicitudes finales deberán llegar a EcoAction Partners no más tarde del 15 de noviembre de 2024.
