Town of Telluride Announces Community Activities, Free Parking and Extended Shopping Hours During Holiday Week

Ice skating, late-night shopping and New Year’s Eve celebrations highlight holiday programming

(December 26, 2025) – Telluride, CO – The Town of Telluride is offering a lineup of alternative winter activities, extended retail hours, and free parking on select dates to encourage residents and visitors to enjoy the community during the holiday week.

Open Ice Skating and Open Gym 

The Parks and Recreation Department is offering two free themed open ice-skating events at the Hanley Ice Rink in Telluride Town Park:

  • Pajama Skate
    • Saturday, December 27 | 1:30 to 3:00 p.m.
    • Free drop-in skating. Pajamas encouraged.
  • GLOW Skate
    • Wednesday, December 31 | 1:45 to 3:45 p.m.
    • Free drop-in skating with special lighting and a festive atmosphere.

Both open skate events will feature a complimentary hot cocoa bar provided by the Coffee Cowboy. Skate rentals are available at the Telluride Nordic Center for a fee: $15 per day for adult skates and $10 per day for youth skates. Parking is limited in Town Park and near the Hanley Rink, visitors are encouraged to plan ahead and bike, walk, or enjoy a free ride on the Galloping Goose bus: bit.ly/totgoose.

The Parks and Recreation Department is also offering two free family-friendly open gyms for all ages on Monday, December 29 and Tuesday, December 30 from 2:00 to 4:00 p.m. at the Telluride Intermediate School Gym at 725 W Colorado Ave.

Free Parking and Extended Shopping Hours

To make it easier to enjoy the holiday season around town, parking will be free throughout the Town of Telluride, including the Silver Jack Parking Garage, on Fridays and Saturdays through January 3 from 8:00 a.m. to 9:00 p.m. All other parking regulations remain in effect, and drivers are asked to follow posted signage.

Many local retailers will also be extending evening hours on these dates, with many shops staying open until 8:00 p.m. on these dates to offer a festive after-hours shopping experience.

Countdown to 2026

New Year’s Eve celebrations in Telluride will include community festivities on Wednesday, December 31, with live music from DJ Wombat, a street dance on Main Street, and a midnight countdown and fireworks display to ring in the new year. Patinaje sobre hielo y gimnasio abiertos

El Departamento de Parques y Recreación ofrece dos eventos temáticos gratuitos de patinaje sobre hielo en la pista Hanley Ice Rink del Telluride Town Park:

  • Patinaje en pijama
    • Sábado, 27 de diciembre | De 1:30 a 3:00 p.m.
    • Patinaje gratuito sin cita previa. Se recomienda venir en pijama.
  • Patinaje GLOW
    • Miércoles, 31 de diciembre | De 1:45 a 3:45 p.m.
    • Patinaje gratuito sin cita previa con iluminación especial y un ambiente festivo.

Ambos eventos de patinaje libre contarán con una barra de chocolate caliente gratuita proporcionada por Coffee Cowboy. Se pueden alquilar patines en el Telluride Nordic Center por un precio de 15 $ al día para patines de adulto y 10 $ al día para patines de niño. Aparcamiento gratuito y horario comercial ampliado
