The Telluride Liquor Licensing Authority and the Colorado Department of Revenue must both approve any application for a liquor license, or any change to a liquor license. Neither entity may issue a license without the consent of the other.
In Telluride, a hearing officer acts as the local liquor licensing authority for all liquor matters except new licenses. New licenses and appeals are heard by the Town Council for approval or denial.
The following rules have been adopted by the Liquor Licensing Authority Hearing Officer for Special Event Liquor Permit Applications
- Authority meetings shall take place on the third Thursday of each month at 3:00 pm unless rescheduled for good cause or canceled due to lack of applications or other matters on the agenda.
- Only complete Special Event Permit applications will be accepted by the Clerk's Department.
- All Special Event Permit applications shall be submitted no later than 12:00 noon, fourteen (14) days prior to the regularly scheduled Authority meeting, and thirty (30) days prior to the proposed special event.
