In 2022-2023, the Telluride Housing Authority (THA) Subcommittee identified the need for a central document to guide staff, tenants, and prospective tenants on qualifying for and managing Town-Constructed Rental Units. The goal was to create clear and fair policies to address current community needs.
Staff gathered insights about existing occupancy and qualification criteria. This review focused on aligning income limits and employment requirements with Telluride's unique challenges. Initial findings were shared during the November 2023 THA Subcommittee meeting, sparking ongoing discussions.
Throughout 2024, the THA Board reviewed data, explored potential updates, and encouraged public input. Staff provided critical information to guide these conversations and ensure community voices were heard.
On November 19, 2024, the THA Board officially adopted the updated Employee Rental Housing Policies. These new policies aim to improve clarity, fairness, and effectiveness in managing Town-Constructed Rental Units.
